Mondays

ahhh Mondays... back to work....
Sometimes it's hard to get back into the groove of things, even though I have a lot to do. I find that i have to write everything down... what I need to do, what I'm working on, what needs to be done when... otherwise I will forget to do it, or at least forget to do it on time. I wrote everything down when I went to school as well, but it's different here because not everything has a due date, so some of my notebook pages have to-do's on them but everything else is crossed out, so I have to put a sticky note there so i remember to go back to that oage and see what it was, at least I'm well organized.

Even still, it's hard to get back into the groove of things, once I start working on something i'm good to go all day even without a break if I'm really into thegroove... mainly because I forget about time, which makes the day fly by. But if i'm doing a lot of little things in one day it's hard to do the groove thing, because I get going then finish, then get going again...
That's what it's like today, and though it's great to cross those little things off my list, I know that there are bigger projects that I need to do, but are hard to start or restart because they are big! Plus after the weekend I sometimes forget what I was working on during "my Friday."

But now that my day here is almost over, it's even harder to start something because I will be stopping to leave in a little while, so I'm trying to finish all of my little projects, but I'm running out of little projects.

The 1st box of Mandrin Oranges always goes so fast

This is the time of year for Mandrin Oranges and Egg Nog, mmm mmm mmm.
I kind of wish these would be aroung all year, but then again if they were they probabky wouldn't be as appealing or good... I'd probably get sick of them, like I eventually do every year as it gets closer to Christmas.

We bought our first box of Mandrin Oranges, for this season, yesturday. And I ate a lot of oranges yesturday, probabky at least 6. I've gotten a good start to the orange eating so far today as well. SO this box will probably only last another day or two at this rate.
I can't drink as much egg nog though, but I still enjoy a cup or two a day.

3rd on a waitlist

I signed up for a UCFV Continuing Studies course a little while ago and i got my information in the mail yesturday... saying i'm third on a waitlist, doh... well hopefully I get in (although there will be a couple days during the course that hinders me from doing something else, like voting for Agrifair board members).

Anyway the course I signed up for is called "Red Cross Standard First Aid," I'm taking it for interrested sack, basically. Here's the course description:

This course is designed to provide comprehensive first aid training and includes the 2005 first aid and CPR guidelies. You will learn about emergency first aid, plus injuries involving the musculoskeletal system, head and neck injuries, poisons, and automated external defibrillation (AED). not much to write about

i know i haven't been writing very much in the last little while. There really hasn't been alot to write about i guess, or at least nothing that i'd feel comfortable to write here (it's all a little too personal).
Plus i've been quite busy for the last little while.

I know i should be in bed trying to sleep, and i was there. But i can't sleep, and don't know if i'll be able to tonight.

I guess i'll spend some lines to update.
Well a few nights ago I couldn't sleep either, but not for the same reasons. that time I was quite sick with a cold going around, that I happened to catch. I felt really sick, i woke up shortly after i fell asleep with a very painful headache. It felt like the worst ice cream headache i had ever had. i think it was that same night, a little later on that i felt like i was going to throw up. That's the worst feeling, but nothig came up, it was all just dry heaves.

About 7 months ago i told my bosses at Medallion, in writing, that i was planning on leaving in 6 months from that date. That was a hint, and i mentioned it to them, that they needed to find and train new supervisors to replace me. They did nothing, in fact they lost 1 supervisor. So i'm still stuck there for the time being. But i did recently train Mel as a supervisor, and i think she did really well. SO hopefully this means I'll be free soon. I'll continue to take as few shifts as possible.

that's seriously about all of the updates I can think of.

My Buoyant Turd

So I went to take a poo today, but it took at least 5 flushes to go down. It was really quite humurous, as my turd would float vertically in the toilet and bounce around like a straw in a cup. It just did not want to go down, in fact it didn't even get close to going down.
I was in a public restroom so I was trying not to laugh at my turd, as I would have sounded like some crazy lady. I was tempted to give up on it, and just let my turd float for the next person to try and sink. But I kept at her, I flushed and I flushed and finally my turd had bounced around in the bottom of the toilet so much that it had begun to break up into smaller, more manageable pieces that were sinkable and went down.
hmm i didn't ever go back to see if my turd was just trying to hide and actually came back up after I left.

It's been a couple weeks since my laser eye surgery

My eyes feel great, and I can see perfectly. I love it, i don't have to grab and put on my glasses or contacts, as soon as I open my eyes in the morning I can see and it's not blurry.

The surgery was completely painless, all I had to do was lay there and cooperate.
Basically when I first got there they put some drops in my eyes gave me an adivan and had me wait in the waiting room (the drops have to have time to take effect). Next a lady brought me upstairs where I waited in another waiting room for a few minutes until they brought me just outside the door of the surgery room. Here I waited again as they put more drops in my eyes (these were to freeze my eyes). Here they also dressed me up in some surgery booties and a cap (I looked pretty hot). While waiting they go through what will happen during the surgery and what I can expect.

I guess they do a bunch of eye surgeries on the same day, as I was in line. The r4eason I was waiting was because there was somebody else having the same operation. Once this guy came out of the surgery room it was my turn to go in. Another lady led me into the room. The doctor was waiting and I was directed to lay on the bed type reclined chair thing. They put a pillow under my knees, I guess for comfort, and the doctor went threw what the process was.

The surgery it self doesn't take very long at all, maybe 10 minutes. There are two machines that do the job, the first one I guess cuts your cornea while the second one reshapes yur cornea. The bed swivels so you don't have to get up, seriously you just lay there and relax, and blink when they tell you to blink.
They also have clamps and suction cups to keep your eyes open during the surgery. The first machine they put this suction cup on your eye (yes it break blood vessels, and puts pressure on your eye, but is painless... this is why after surgery I had red eyes in places). They cover yor face with a sheet, there is one hole in the sheet for one eye, but once the first cornea has been cut they do the next eye before going onto the next machine. I could see during the whole process, but at some points my vision was very blurry or very contrasted.
After the first machine the doctor takes the suction cups off, more drops go in your eyes, and he puts on clamps to keep your eyes open during the second machine. Both machines you are directed to watch a light or a flashing light of a certain colour. The second machine makes a sound like a sewing machine, and smells like burning hair, but again doens't hurt. I just relaxed and watch the flashing light (it was very easy).

After the second machine the doctor takes this realy wet soft brush like thing and brushes your eyeballs, it's actually a really neat experience, and kinda like a massage (who'd a thought). I guess he was just brushing out the air bubbles. After the 10 minute surgery I was helped up and out of the room, where another patient was waiting to go in for her surgery. I was seated just outside the room and more drops were put in my eyes, follows by plastic sheilds over my eyes. Then I was taken downstairs to a dark room where I had to wait for twenty minutes (recovery).
Then I went home and slept, because my eyes were tired.

My car failed aircare so now I have to pay for it again to make it pass

Dang Cars!!!
SO my insurance expires at the end of this month, and I took my car in to get aircared a couple days ago... well it failed. I really don't have much luck with my cars and aircare. It's a good car, at least it seems like a good car.

I brought my car into Gerry's Automotive and the quote to get it fixed was $1340, that's $40 more than what was originally paid for it. OUCH!
Basically there's a lot of things that don't work on it, the PC Valve, O2 sensor, catilatic convertor, and the exhaust is screwed.... I do know of a few other things that need to be replaced soon, but are not emergencies (UV joints, coolent sensor). But it sounds/seems like it runs fine, and it's exterior condition is pretty.
That's just a lot of money to put into a 1992 Mazda 323.

The mechanic seems to think it's worth it when I talked to him, and fixing it is better than lookiung for a "new" car that we don't know about the problems with it. We've looked into getting the conditinal pass, which would cost a little over $600 and would still mean we'd have to fix the exhaust by next year, and we wouldn;t save much by doing that ourselves. It's probably better to get them to do it all.
My debt is getting deeper and deeper.

Neil almost killed himself the other day!

So we were at Tradex (yes working, as usual), I was upstairs in the offices working away and Neil was down on the floor helping the Building Manager (Bill) take down the old lighted ad display box things on the walls. So he was up on the scissor lift, talking on his cellphone and was using wire cutters to cut a wire in order to take down the box. Well thank God the scissor lift has rubber tires, and thank God he was talking on his cellphone (or should I thank the electricians he was talking to) and not touching the wall, and thank God (or should I thank Bill for this one) that he was using new pliers with nice rubber handles. Otherwise that 270 volt wire would have fried him and we would be having a funeral on July 14 rather than a wedding! By the way those new pliers now have a hole burnt into them, maybe we'll frame them.

Wood and WATER is our wedding theme

Flood date pushed back to around our wedding

So the city came to Tradex about need to use Tradex during the predicted flood, there's only one problem... Tradex will be booked when they need the building, and it's our wedding that is using the space. But the good news is that Tradex will not kick us out, the bad news is that the city will displace us if they need to and getting between Mission and Abbotsford will be difficult.
So what happens if we get displaced? that's a bit of a kink in the wedding plans, or so one would think....

But if the city does displace us they have offered to pay for our ritzy, high class, expensive wedding. There are other places we can go, and they have suggested some. But they will also do the footwork to notify our guests of the change in venue. Cool! No problem! Just hand it over in writing and it's a done deal.

I would however like to start thinking now about what we do if we get displaced. Now there's not a lot that will change, really just the venues. But still I'd liek to know the layout so we can plan a little differently with time to spare rather than last minute preparations. Neil doesn't think we need a "Plan B." He didn't understand me when I said I think we need to consider the fact that we might be displaced and what would be different if this was to happen... Rather than stressign at the last minute trying to get things together I'd rather think about it now, and have things in place (at least mentally in place). Things like what are other options for us as venues, and which option do we like best, what will the reception floorplan vaguely look like? Is the ceremony in the same place? What about ceremony decorations? What about the people in Mission who have to some how get to Abbotsford? anything else...
